Black Sun Records
Black Sun Records presents the first of our music series ‘Night Lights’, where we feature gems of Singapore’s music scene. House opens at 7pm, and so is our bar. Get warmed up before chilling with Ethel Yap at 8pm, then dance the night away with Leon Markcus at 9pm. Ticket includes one free drink (alcoholic/nonalcoholic).
Ethel Yap is influenced by folk outfits like The Swell Season, Lisa Hannigan and Fleet Foxes. She was mentored under Randolf Arriola's guidance in the Noise Music Mentorship (2015) and has performed her music at the Esplanade Concourse, Artistry cafe, Barbershop by Timbre, Lepark, Starker Music and Festivals such as Baybeats Open Stage (2016) and Twenty-Something Festival (2016). Ethel is also a theatre actress, havingperformed with W!LD RICE, Pangdemonium and The Theatre Practice. She is releasing her debut EP later this year.
Leon Markcus, a local singer/songwriter who took the local music scene by storm with his first single back in 2015, is making a comeback with help from Jeff Hue (2015's Noise Singapore Awardee: Canvas Conversations) who has produced for the likes of Gentle Bones and Ffion.
Unlike his debut EP 'Mannequin', Leon Markcus' new collaborative single with Jeff Hue ‘Alive’, focuses heavily on electronic dance music and heavy vocals. 'Alive' and ‘Mannequin’ are available on iTunes Music, Spotify, Youtube and other streaming platforms.
