Inspired from the malay proverb ‘Gajah mati tinggalkan Gading, Manusia mati tinggalkan Nama’, (When an elephant dies, it leaves behind its tusks. When humans’ pass on they will leave behind their name), three independent artists will question their very existence in the artistic/commercial dance scene in Singapore.
This work questions the needs of an artist in Singapore, highlighting the key factors of surviving as an independent living in a fast urban country through the expression of contemporary dance.
Whilst ‘Gading’ is a representation of an artist experience, it will be a work which touches on human’s survival of sustainability, overcoming struggles, drive and desire to make a mark in this world.
