Catch the highlights from Aliwal Arts Night Crawl 2015: DON'T GIVE FACE!
The third edition of the Aliwal Arts Night Crawl is just crawling with amazing Singapore talent, from Malay percussionists NADI Singapura to contemporary dance group John Mead Dance Company, the Singapore I-Lien Drama Society to visual artist Brandon Tay.
Put on a mask inspired by the cultures of Singapore and crawl through the historic district of Kampong Gelam to catch free performances in unexpected locations, shop Singapore-made goods at The Local People Art Market, and get special discounts!

When it comes to the Aliwal Arts Night Crawl, you can bet that we Don’t Give Face! Come to Crawl HQ at Aliwal Arts Centre to get immersed in the theme, with activities for everyone aged 4 to 84!

Snap a picture of your mask (#maskfie?) or festival outfit, upload it to Instagram with #AliwalOOTD and see yourself on the façade of Aliwal Arts Centre!

Make your mark on a 1.5m tall lion dance head with bric-a-brac donated by the haberdasheries of Kampong Gelam.
CERMIN AJAIB (THE MAGIC MIRROR)

Step in front of the Magic Mirror and become a character inspired by the cultural heritage of Kampong Gelam, in this special interactive installation by media artist Brandon Tay.

Learn the personality traits different colours represent, be inspired by beautiful costumes, and paint your very own full-faced mask, traditional Chinese opera style.
BE A DIAN DANCER!

Visit the Dian Dancers Studio to sneak a peek at their environment, and try on traditional Malay dance costumes! Psssst… it’s an excellent opportunity to #AliwalOOTD.
KID'S MASK MAKE & TAKE

Suitable for kids aged 4 and up. Colour, make and take home a mask inspired by Singapore cultures, designed by artists ANTZ and ZERO from graffiti collective RSCLs.

Join Singapore’s premier a cappella collective, and get to know the different ensembles as they sing their way through the crawl from Haji Lane to Jln Sultan!
WATER SLEEVE WORKSHOP

In this 45-minute workshop, learn the basics of performing with water sleeves – the long sleeves attached to the cuffs of a traditional Chinese Opera costume.

A two-part performance by young adults, on their perspective towards life in Singapore through songs and poetry, infused with puppetry and ancient musical instruments.

Be mesmerised by famous Singaporean folk tales such as The Wolf Boy of Belankang Mati, Radin Mas and the House of the Merbau, and Sang Nila Utama Lionheart, told by Uncle Rajah to enchanting soundscapes. Don't miss the addition of a magical performance by The Weekend Superheroes, who will open each tale of Uncle Rajah!
